To celebrate the Autumn Equinox, may I introduce to you, the equinox Squirrel. The squirrel is needle felted wool over a wire armature and I think is pretty much a life size squirrel.

He holds a copper acorn in his paw and carries a handmade leather bag painted and cut to resemble an acorn and the bag has a copper acorn and oak leaf leaf attached cast from nature finds here in Wales and the oak leaf from a tree growing on a cliff top in Sweden. The squirrel also wears a copper moon crown on his head.

He carries a handmade pine needle basket, woven from pine needles collected here in Wales on my walks, It holds messages and letters from the creatures of the woods to each other. Squirrels are known in folklore to be messengers. Taken from the Norse tales of the squirrel Ratatoskr who ran up and down the Ygrassil tree carrying messages from Niohoggr and Veorfolmir the serpent and eagle of the underworld and the heavens.

He is a unique piece, all elements are made by myself, from the copper to the basket, letters and squirrel. He is mounted on a hard wood base but he does have a wired armature so he can be moved and posed, perhaps a turn of the head.

I can do part payment plans for him if you wish, split the cost over several months. Contact me to discuss this.
